SmittenBlu is the brainchild of Sylvia Maccalla and Kamilah Marshall. A few years ago, while performing with several of the leading companies that supply entertainment for corporate events, Sylvia and Kamilah noticed there was a need for a larger female presence. After a few conversations and some phone calls to some of the best female singers in the business, SmittenBlu was born. Soon after forming the company, they were approached by Sequia Entertainment, who was in the market for an "all female group of powerhouse singers", to dazzle at their upcoming Primetime and Creative Emmy's Governors Ball. SmittenBlu was signed on the spot. The feedback from the event was so overwhelmingly positive that Sequia Entertainment quickly contracted SmittenBlu to perform at the 85th Academy Awards show.
Maccalla and Marshall have more than enough experience between them to have their pulse on any audience. The duo has shared the stage with some of the greatest performers of our time including Bette Midler, Wynona Judd, Smokey Robinson, Carole King, Sergio Mendes,, Queen Latifah, Jennifer Lopez and more. Their successes on Broadway in RENT, Hairspray and Disney's The Lion King have given them an appreciation and understanding of different genres of music from pop to Broadway and everything in between.
SmittenBlu expanded as their success grew, taking on the NFL's Official Tailgate Extravaganza for the 2014 Super Bowl. SmittenBlu provided over 60 performers to cover more than five rooms of entertainment. Everything from Improv to Flash Mob Karaoke, and even a singing horse.
Both Sylvia and Kamilah have developed a commitment to hard work and professionalism throughout their own careers. Their willingness to think outside the box is what sets them apart from other companies that provide entertainment for corporate industrials and special events. Whether it's Motown or the Cotton Club, a SmittenBlu show will have a true authenticity and if it's Broadway you want, they feature a celebrity roster of talent that has lit up stages up and down the Great White Way.
Both Maccalla and Marshall are still enjoying very active careers in entertainment, which means SmittenBlu, no matter the theme, can deliver a show that is contemporary and alive.
